Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

Every fall wardrobe needs a stylish pullover sweater. The Sadie sweater features a funnel collar, dropped shoulder, and patch pockets.

To experiment with the silhouette, try sewing Sadie up in a lightweight sweater knit for an entirely different drape. The "Block, Paper, Scissors" article in the November 2017 issue of Seamwork will teach you three pattern hacks for the Sadie structured sweatshirt, including an angled hem and a cropped version.

Fabric & Supplies

Medium to heavyweight knit fabrics such as French terry, sweatshirt fleece, merino wool, ribbing, and terry cloth. Optional: Try a lightweight sweater knit or jersey for a flowy silhouette.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, ballpoint sewing machine needle, ballpoint twin needle.

Sizes 0-16 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 18-26 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
