Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Sleeveless Button-Front Top

Cassis is a fitted sleeveless top with refined, vintage-inspired lines and a flattering, tailored fit. Designed to skim the body, it’s an easy piece to dress up or down—equally at home paired with relaxed denim, tailored shorts, or a flowing skirt.

The rounded square neckline and softly scooped back create an elegant, timeless silhouette. Armhole princess seams shape the front bodice for a close, comfortable fit, while paneled back seams create beautiful lines from every angle. A button-front closure and fully lined construction give Cassis a polished finish inside and out.

Fabric & Supplies

Lightweight to medium weight woven fabrics such as linen, chambray, denim, twill, suitings, corduroy, batiste, lawn, clip dot, eyelet, seersucker, poplin, quilting cottons, and shirting.

Lightweight woven linings such as cotton lawn, acetate, rayon, or silk.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, all-purpose sewing machine needle, 1/4 yard (.25 meters) fusible interfacing, and six 1/2” (13 mm) buttons.

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

00 – 30

Sizing & Fit

Shannon is wearing the Cassis top in a size 6 from our 00 - 18 size range. We graded to an 8 at the waist and shortened the body length 1/2". Her measurements are bust: 36" (91.4 cm), waist: 29" (73.7 cm), hip: 36" (91.4 cm), and she is 5' 4" (162.6 cm) tall.

Crosby is wearing the Cassis top in a size 18 from our 12 - 30 size range. We added 3/4" to the bust and added 3/4" to the body length. Her measurements are bust: 48 1/4" (122.5 cm), waist: 38 1/2" (97.8 cm), hip: 49" (124.5 cm), and she is 5'10" (177.8 cm) tall.

00 – 30

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
