Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

This paneled tank top is a blank canvas for color-blocking, using your fabric scraps, and playing with different prints. The Kemper top features a partial peplum, front yoke, and a paneled front and back, with a bias finish at the armholes and back neckline.

Fabric & Supplies

Light to medium weight woven fabrics such as linen, chambray, cotton lawn, batiste, shirting, double gauze, and rayon challis.

All-purpose polyester  sewing thread, sewing machine needle, and 2 1/4 yards (2.1 meters) of 1/2"  (13 mm) single fold bias tape

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

Sizing & Fit

Ally is wearing a size 18 Kemper top with 1" added to the shoulder width. Her measurements are 46 3/4", 42", 52 3/4", and she is 5'8".

00 – 26

Sizes 00-16 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-26 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
