Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

Tiered Elastic Waist Skirt

The Yarrow Skirt is the perfect blend of effortless style and skill-building fun. This two-tiered, midi-length skirt features an elastic waistband for all-day comfort and a flattering fit. The pleated hem adds graceful movement and is a great opportunity to practice sewing pleats. Rectangular panels make it ideal for showcasing border prints and eyelet fabric. In-seam pockets at the waist seam add function to this fashionable skirt. Yarrow is an approachable project with polished results—perfect for leveling up your sewing skills in style.

Fabric & Supplies

Lightweight woven fabrics such as linen, cotton lawn, cotton voile, cotton gauze, shirting, chambray, gingham, Swiss dot, linen, rayon challis, rayon crepe, and silk.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread , sewing machine needle , 1 1/2 yards (1.4 meters) 1 1/2" (38 mm) elastic, small safety pin or bodkin 

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

00 – 30

Sizing & Fit

Cierra is wearing the Yarrow skirt in a size 4 from the 00-18 size range with no adjustments. Her measurements are chest: 36 3/4" (93.35 cm), waist: 27" (68.58cm), hip: 39 1/4" (99.69cm), and she is 5' 9" (175.26cm) tall.

Iman is wearing the Yarrow skirt in a size 16 from the 12-30 size range with no adjustments. Her measurements are chest: 44" (111.76cm), waist: 36" (91.44 cm), hip: 46 3/4" (118.75cm), and she is 5' 9 1/2" (176.5 cm) tall.

00 – 30

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
