Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

Is there such a thing as too many tote bags? We think not! The Ollie grocery set features a roomy unlined tote bag plus drawstring produce bags in two different sizes. Make the Ollie tote in a sturdy woven fabric like canvas or denim, and the produce bags from a lightweight woven or mesh. 

Finished measurements:

Tote bag: 20" (50.8 cm) wide x 15" (38.1) high

Large drawstring bag: 17" (43.2 cm) x 12" (30.5 cm)

Small drawstring bag: 14" (35.6 cm) x 9" (22.9 cm)

Fabric & Supplies

Tote Bag: medium to heavyweight woven fabric such as canvas, denim, twill, or duck cloth. Drawstring bag: athletic mesh or lightweight woven fabric such as quilting cotton, broadcloth, chambray, and lawn.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, sewing machine needle, 2 yards (1.8 meters) of 1/4" (6mm) cording (per drawstring bag), small safety pin, Optional: two cord stops (one per drawstring bag), Optional: topstitching needle and thread (tote bag only).

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
