Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

Admit it—glasses cases tend to be kind of bland. The James glasses case is an easy-to-sew, scrap-friendly project that will help you make a case that is as cool as your favorite frames or shades. The two interior pockets are perfect for stashing both your glasses and a cleaning cloth. 

Finished measurements: 7 1/2" (19.1 cm) x 7" (17.8 cm)

Fabric & Supplies

5/8 yards (.6 meters) of medium weight woven fabric such as quilting cotton, broadcloth, chambray, and shirting.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, sewing machine needle, 20" (51 cm) of 3/8" (1 cm), double-fold bias tape or make your own with the included pattern piece, water-soluble marker or chalk, 1/4 yard (.2 meters) of lightweight fusible interfacing, or a piece of batting (7 3/4 x 8 1/4) (20 cm x 21 cm).

Sizing & Fit

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
