Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

Wren is a wrap-style knit dress that is fun to sew and wear—with two different options for silhouette.

Version 1 is a sleeveless dress with a fitted, 6-gore skirt that finishes just at the knee.

Version 2 has short sleeves. The gathered neckband is gracefully echoed in the gathered A-line skirt.

Bonus: Add long sleeves to your Wren dress using this free pattern modification (automatically included in PDF version).

Fabric & Supplies

Light to medium-weight knit fabrics with at least 25% stretch, baby rib knit, French terry, double knit, ITY.

All-purpose polyester thread, ballpoint needle, two yards of 1/4" clear elastic. Optional: Twin ballpoint needle or coverstitch

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

Sizes 0-16 are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 18-26 are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
