Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

Sewing your own swimwear doesn’t have to be complicated. Meet Maggie! This two-piece swimsuit has a scoop neckline, wide-set straps, high-waisted bottoms, and a cheeky cut at the legs.

Our instructions will show you how to use swim elastic throughout. This bathing suit is also fully lined, so you’ll learn how to sew swimwear with a beautiful finish.

Fabric & Supplies

Nylon Lycra swimwear fabrics with 4-way stretch and 60% - 80% stretch. Fabrics with 2-way stretch will not work for this pattern.

Swimwear lining fabric with 4-way stretch and 60% - 80% stretch. Lining fabrics with 2-way stretch will not work for this pattern.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, ballpoint sewing machine needle, 8 1/2 Yards (7.8 meters) of 1/4" (6 mm) cotton swimwear elastic. Optional: foam cups

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

Sizing & Fit

Crosby is wearing a curvy size 14 Maggie swimsuit with 3/4" added to the bottom leg side seam. Her measurements are 43 1/2", 34", 47", and she is 5'10".

00 – 26

Sizes 00-16 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-26 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
