Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Wide Leg Pull-On Trousers

The Birch Trousers are wide-leg, pull-on pants that blend comfort with tailored refinement. Semi-fitted through the hips and flowing into an elegant wide leg, Birch creates a long, clean silhouette that’s effortless to wear and easy to style.

A front pintuck runs down each leg for crisp definition, giving the trousers a structured look without sacrificing ease. The slash pockets and deep double-fold hem add classic, functional details, while the flat-front waistband keeps the silhouette smooth and polished. In back, an elastic waistband provides all-day comfort, and clustered belt loops allow for creative styling with your favorite belt

Both relaxed and refined, Birch is the kind of versatile trouser you’ll reach for when you want comfort with a tailored finish.

Fabric & Supplies

Medium weight woven fabrics such as cotton twill, linen, linen blends, denim, chambray, and rayon twill.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread , all-purpose sewing machine needle, 2/3 yards (.6 meters) 1 1/2" (3.8 cm) braided elastic, 1 1/4 yards (1.2 meters) fusible interfacing, and a large safety pin or bodkin. 

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

00 – 30

Sizing & Fit

Ariel is wearing the Birch pant in a size 10 from our 00-18 size range with 1 1/2" removed from the inseam length. Her measurements are bust: 36 3/4" (93.3 cm), waist: 30 1/4" (76.8 cm), hip: 40 1/4" (102.2 cm), and she is 5'6" (167.6 cm) tall.

Crosby is wearing the Birch pant in a size 18 from our 12-30 size range with 2" added to the inseam length. Her measurements are bust: 47 1/2" (120.6 cm), waist: 38 1/2" (97.8 cm), hip: 50 3/8" (127.9 cm), and she is 5'10" (177.8 cm) tall.

00 – 30

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
