Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

This double breasted jacket has gentle shaping, a simple rounded collar, and tailored sleeves. The one-piece front makes it easy to incorporate patterns such as plaids or stripes.

Anise can be made with either full-length sleeves (version 1) or below-elbow cropped sleeves (version 2). Learn to create single welt pockets and insert a bagged lining as you sew.

Medium-weight fabrics such as wool flannel, gabardine, tweed, velveteen, worsted wool.

Silk crepe, rayon lining, silk twill.

All-purpose polyester thread, fusible weft interfacing, two 1/4" shoulder pads, silk thread for basting, eight 1" buttons, point turner, hand sewing needle.
