Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

If you like to wear layers, Knox will fit right into your wardrobe. This clever pinafore is full of fun details to sew, and the pattern is very beginner-friendly. The side panels create dropped, squared armholes for a unique silhouette, and you’ll also find pockets set into the panels. No closures are needed to layer this pinafore over your favorite tee or button-up shirt.

Fabric & Supplies

Medium to heavyweight fabrics such as denim, twill, canvas, suitings, corduroy, suede, and faux suede.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, sewing machine needle, and 1 yard (.9 meters) of 1/2" (13 mm) single fold bias tape.

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

Sizing & Fit

Jamie is wearing a size 18 Knox pinafore with 2 1/2” added to the skirt length, 1/2” removed from across bust, back, and waist, and 1/2” added to the hip. Her measurements are 41 1/2”, 38”, 50 1/2” and she is 5’10 1/2”.

00 – 26

Sizes 00-16 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-26 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
