Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

V-neck sweater sewing pattern

Having a few sweaters tucked away in your closet is so important when the weather gets cold and you need to add a quick layer. The Vicky sweater is semi-fitted with a V-neckline adorned with 1” buttons on a wide neckband so you can show off a handful of buttons from your stash. This sweater has slightly voluminous sleeves that are gathered into a fitted cuff. Bust darts and a center back seam create the fitted silhouette. Sew this sweater in your favorite cozy knits!

Fabric & Supplies

Medium weight knit fabrics with at least 20% stretch, such as French terry, ponte, double knit, and sweater knit.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, ballpoint sewing machine needle, ballpoint twin needle, knit stay tape, and 1/4 yard (.2 meters) of knit interfacing

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

Sizing & Fit

Maya wears a size 4 graded to a 0 at the bust with a full bicep adjustment, 2" added to the sleeve length and 1" to the body length.

Crosby wears a size 18, graded to a 16 at the waist and hip with a broad shoulder adjustment.

00 – 30

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
