Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

This knit nightgown was designed for both comfort and style. Maeve is semi-fitted with

a scoop neck, adjustable straps, princess seams for shaping or color-blocking, and a shelf bra. The slit at the front hem adds a delicate detail.

Fabric & Supplies

Light to medium weight knit fabrics with at least 30% stretch, such as cotton, rayon, bamboo jersey, and rib knits.

All-purpose polyester  sewing thread, ballpoint sewing  machine needle, 1 1/4 yards (1.1 meters) of 3/4" (20 mm) plush back elastic, two 1/2" (10 mm) bra slides, two 1/2" (10 mm) bra rings, 1 yard (.9 meters) of 1/2"  (13 mm) bra strap elastic, 2 1/4 yards (2.1 meters) of 1/4"  (6 mm) clear elastic, small safety pin.

Sizing & Fit

Jamie is wearing a Maeve nightgown in curvy size 14 with 1 inch added to the bust and 1/2" added to the body length. Her measurements are 41 1/2", 34", 46 1/2", and she is 5'10 1/2".

00 – 26

Sizes 00-16 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-26 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
