Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Tie Front Bed Jacket

The Orchid Bed Jacket is a delicate, vintage-inspired layer designed to feel equal parts romantic and effortless. Inspired by classic bed jackets, Orchid brings that soft, nostalgic charm into a piece you can wear every day, whether layered over a simple tank and jeans or draped over a dress.
With its boxy fit and easy shape, Orchid offers a comfortable fit with an elegant and airy feel. A flattering V-neckline and single tie closure at the center front create a simple, feminine silhouette, while bust darts add subtle shaping.

Wide, bracelet-length sleeves enhance the relaxed look, and lace trim at the neckline and sleeve edges adds a soft, decorative detail that elevates the entire piece.

Fabric & Supplies

Light to medium weight woven fabrics such as cotton lawn, linen, linen blends, cotton gauze, voile, Swiss dot, eyelet, challis, crepe, georgette, or chiffon.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, all-purpose sewing machine needle, and 2 1/4 yards (2.1 meters) 1” (25 mm) lace trim.

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

Sizing & Fit

Cierra is wearing the Orchid bed jacket in a size 6. We made a broad shoulder adjustment, and lengthened the body and sleeves 1/2". Her measurements are bust:36" (91.4 cm), waist: 27 1/2" (69.9 cm), hip: 40" (101.6 cm), and she is 5'9" (175.3 cm) tall.

Morgan is wearing the Orchid bed jacket in a size 20. Her measurements are bust:48" (121.9 cm), waist: 41" (104.1 cm), hip: 52" (132.1 cm), and she is 5'9" (175.3 cm) tall.

00 – 30

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
