Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

The Ruffled Tank Top

Fifer is a classic woven tank top with a romantic twist. Fifer's base features a slightly A-line silhouette with a scoop front and back neckline. Bust darts shape the relaxed fit, and the hemline rests right below the high hip.

The centerpiece of this beautiful tank top is the gathered collar that adds femininity to this style. You'll also practice two bias finish techniques with the bias-bound neckline and bias-faced armholes. Wear Fifer on its own for warm spring and summer days, or layer under your favorite cardigan or jacket to bring a bit of texture to your outfit.

Lightweight woven fabrics such as cotton lawn, cotton voile, cotton gauze, chambray, Swiss dot, linen, rayon challis, rayon crepe, and silk.

Sizing & Fit

Maya is wearing a size 4 Fifer blouse with 1" removed at the bust and the dart lowered 3/8". Her measurements are bust: 33" (83.8 cm), waist: 27" (68.5 cm), and hip:37 1/2" (95.3 cm), and she is 5' 10" (70 cm) tall.

Tambrie is wearing the Fifer blouse in a size 18, from our 12-30 size range. We increased the armhole depth by 1/2". Her measurements are bust: 46" (116.8 cm), waist: 39 1/2" (100.3 cm), and hip: 48" (122 cm), and she is 5' 8" (172.75 cm) tall.

00 – 30

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
