Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

Collared Blouse

The Cosmo Blouse is a chic pullover top with just the right balance of ease and shaping. Designed with a flattering V-neckline and a soft flat lay collar, Cosmo is semi-fitted through the body with bust darts and gentle elastic at the back waist for a comfortable, tailored feel. Gathered sleeves with elastic hems add a touch of volume and detail, while the center front seam and double-fold hem keep the finish clean and polished. Easy to style tucked into trousers, paired with skirts, or worn loose with jeans, Cosmo is a versatile piece you’ll want to sew in multiples for year-round wear.

Fabric & Supplies

Light to medium weight woven fabrics such as shirting, chambray, linen, linen blends, flannel, lawn, voile, rayon challis, rayon crepe, Tencel, poplin, Tencel twill, and silk crepe.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, sewing machine needle, 5/8 yards (.6 meters) lightweight fusible interfacing, 1/2 yard (.5 meter) 1/4" (6 mm) elastic, a point turner, and a large safety pin or bodkin.

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

00 – 30

Sizing & Fit

Ilisa is wearing a size 2 Cosmo top. We added 1 1/4" to the body length, 3/4" to the sleeve length, and increased the shoulder width 3/8". Her measurements are bust: 34" (86.4 cm), waist: 25 1/2" (64.8 cm), hip 39" (99 cm), and she is 5'9" (175.3 cm) tall.

Iman is wearing the Cosmo top in a size 16 from our 12-30 size range. We added 1/2" to the sleeve length and raised the bust dart 3/4". We also reduced the waist and bottom opening 1". Her measurements are bust: 44" (111.8 cm), waist: 36" (91.4 cm), hip 47" (119.4 cm), and she is 5'9" (176.5 cm) tall.

00 – 30

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
