Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

Easy jumpsuit sewing pattern

Jumpsuits run the gamut from fancy to toddler, and this jumpsuit will make you feel cute in a grown-up way. The Michelle jumpsuit is designed for wovens and features a surplice at the back bodice, a round front neckline, in-seam pockets, tapered legs, and a relaxed, step-in, pull-on fit. The elastic waistband has a tie enclosed in a casing that moves with you throughout the day. You can create a self-tie or use twill tape or a ribbon for a bit of color.

This jumpsuit is great for wearing between seasons when it's not too hot and not too cold. It's so comfortable and so fun to sew!

Medium weight woven fabrics such as cotton twill, linen, linen blends, denim, canvas, and rayon twill.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, Sewing machine needle, 1 1/4 yards (1.1 meters) of lightweight fusible interfacing, Two squares of 1 1/2" (3.8 cm) x 1 1/2" (3.8 cm) fusible interfacing, 1 3/4 yards (1.6 meters) of 1 1/2" (3.8 cm) braided elastic, Optional: 2 1/4 yards (2.1 meters) 1" (2.5 cm) ribbon or twill tape for the waist tie

Sizing & Fit

Maya is wearing a size 4. We graded to a 0 at the bust and a 2 at the waist, moved each shoulder out 1/4" (6 mm), added 4 1/2" (11.4 cm) to the inseam, lowered the waist by 3/4" (19 mm), raised the crotch point 5/8" (1.6 cm), and added 1/2" (12 mm) to the back rise. Her measurements are 32 3/4" (83.2 cm), 27" (68.6 cm), 37" (7.62 cm), and she is 5'10" (1.78 m).

Morgan is wearing a size 20 Michelle jumpsuit. Her measurements are 48” (121.92 cm), 41” (104.14 cm), 52" (132.08 cm), and she is 5’9” (1.75 m) tall.

00 – 30

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
