Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

Description

Jumpsuit sewing pattern

Make a statement with this jumpsuit. Banks is a dramatic dolman sleeve jumpsuit with full-length wide legs. It has a powerful silhouette that is so fun to sew, featuring a surplice bodice with princess seams and lined center and front back panels. This jumpsuit is designed for wovens and it goes on with a zipper and keyhole closure at the back. It also has a shaped waist tie that is sewn directly into the jumpsuit, so it never falls off. There are darts at the back waist and curved in-seam pockets.

Fabric & Supplies

Light to medium weight woven fabrics such as cotton, linen, linen blends, twill, denim, rayon challis, rayon suiting, silk noil, and rayon crepe.

All-purpose polyester sewing thread, sewing machine needle, one 3/8" shank button, 16" (40 cm), 18" (45 cm), or 20", (50 cm) invisible zipper (see measurement charts), and 2" of 1/8" elastic.

Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

00 – 30

Sizing & Fit

Kayla is wearing a size 12. We graded to a 14 for the pants, blended at the waist, removed 1/2" from bodice height, add .75" to the hip and thigh. Her measurements are 40" (101.6 cm), 33" (83.8 cm), 44 3/4" (113.7 cm), and she is 5'10" (1.78 m).

Morgan is wearing a size 20. Her measurements are 48” (121.92 cm), 41” (104.14 cm), 52" (132.08 cm), and she is 5’9” (1.75 m) tall.

00 – 30

Sizes 00-18 (Misses) are drafted for a C cup. Our size 8 fit model is 5’8”. Sizes 12-30 (Curvy) are drafted for a DD cup. Our size 20 fit model is 5’9”. Learn more about our sizing here
